The catechism students of Std XI were privileged to visit “Kanagamal Chathram” a small town near Thiruvallur, there we visited and stayed in a village called Nedumbaram, here our Presentation Sister have started an English Medium school for the children from the near-by villages.
From here we visisted a village called Ragunadhapuram and a place called Ariee-karai here the habitants are Irulas whose occupation is catching snakes and belong to the lowest caste of SC/STS. The people here have no land, no proper homes nor occupation. As a result no proper food and live temporary homes with no ration cards and identity for themselves.
So we visited them and gave them Rice, Oil, Jaggery, Dhal, Ragi, Rava Sweets and Bedsheets. They were happy to see us and took us around. There is no standing place in there temporary huts. These people are very poor and the people deserving. Their children here do not have proper clothes, so if anyone is willing to give old clothes in good condition you are welcome to share them with these under-privileged children.
This is possible because of Sr.Nirmala our Principal. We are grateful to her for this learning once in a lifetime experience, encouragement and for her generous contribution. Thank you Sister.
