Thai Pongal, the harvest festival of Tamilnadu was celebrated in St. Columban’s on 11th Jan at 2pm. The underlying theme, ‘O Lord of Abundance, we thank Thee’ conveyed to the students the need to be grateful for all our blessings. The pupils understood that they ‘receive to share’. The colourful display of dances was interspersed with the enactment of rituals of each of the four-day celebration- Bhogi, Thai Pongal, Maatu Pongal and Kaanum pongal. The cultuaral extravaganza was a feast to the eyes. The assembly concluded with a tribute paid to the Indian farmers.
